Jordan

Overview

Jordan is the closest 'abroad' that feels completely different from the Gulf: Petra carved into rock, the Mars-red desert of Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea where you float effortlessly, and Amman with its cafés and old souqs. Food is halal by default, the language is Arabic and the flight is short, which makes it a comfortable choice for Saudi families on short breaks.

What to see

  • Petra: the Treasury, the Siq and the Monastery
  • Wadi Rum: desert camps and night skies
  • The Dead Sea: floating and mineral mud
  • Amman: the Citadel, the Roman Theatre and Rainbow Street
  • Jerash: the Roman city
  • Aqaba: the Red Sea and diving
